“Awe man, I love Air Supply,” she relaxed into her car seat, cranking the volume up as loud as it would go. She lost herself in the moment singing, “I’m all out of love, I’m so lost without you.”

High beams from an oncoming car blurred her vision. Blocking the lights with her hand, Adrienne swerved toward the shoulder of the road. Correcting herself, she veered back onto the pavement and honked her horn.

Her hand shook as she pushed the loose hair out of her eye. Distracted, Adrienne noticed an iridescent blue light blazing over the old McNielson Pond and dropped from the sky with a bang. Water shot into the air like a volcano erupting.

“What the hell was that?” Heart pounding in her ears, Adrienne slowed down to get a better look at the glowing light moving beneath the surface. Curiosity got the better of her. Adrienne rolled her car onto the dirt road to get a closer look. Slowly she crept toward the south end of the pond, as the light dissipated the image of a body come into view. Adrienne jumped out the car and ran full speed toward the edge of the water. She pulled off her shoes and dove in the warm summer pond. She fought her way through the overgrown pond grass until she reached a man’s naked body. She hooked an arm around his chest and swam toward the shoreline. Adrienne coughed profusely, struggling to pull his well-muscled body from the water. She knelt beside him and smoothed back the dark hair from his face.

A shallow breath hitched in her throat, “Oh my God, you’re beautiful,” she whispered.

Leaning forward to give him CPR, she heard him taking a deep, life-giving breath. His crimson colored eyes shot opened as he flashed his lethal incisors at Adrienne with a snarl. Scrambling back on her hands, a blood-curdling scream ripped from her throat. He crouched down, watching her retreat in fear. His harsh features began to soften as his massive incisors slowly disappeared behind his full lips and his eyes faded to liquid silver.

“W-What the hell,” she said stumbling to her feet. Adrenalin pumped through her veins. Adrienne stood in her “Kick Boxing” stance ready to fight for her life. Fear beat at her like a drum, unleashed tears filled her eyes as she lifted up her chin defiantly, “If you’re gonna kill me; you’ll have to work for it! I’m no easy win.”

The stranger stood with ease, bestowing an approving glance along Adrienne’s lush body. He finally spoke in an unfamiliar accent, “I am Caleb Bancroft.” With a single sweep of his hand, clothes covered his chilled body.

“And I’m forever in your debt, Adrienne.”

“How do you know my name?” she barely whispered.

An easy smile touched his lips.

“The prophecy was foretold to me and you, Adrienne you are my destiny.”
